How to get official Minecraft capes without a reseller

Minecraft capes are the most mis-sold item in the game. Marketplace listings routinely describe capes that do not exist, or describe real capes in ways that make them sound transferable. Before buying anything, it helps to know how capes actually work.

The rule that explains everything

A cape is permanently bound to the account it was redeemed against. It cannot be transferred, gifted, or sold on the platform. Minecraft states this directly in its own documentation: capes are tied to accounts, and trading accounts that carry capes violates the Terms of Service.

That single rule eliminates most of what you will find for sale. If a seller is offering you a cape attached to an account, they are asking you to buy a login and break the platform rules. If they are offering a redeem code, they are offering you the only version of this product that works properly.

The official capes, and where each came from

Note the Menace Cape dates. That promotion ran for under three weeks in 2025 and is long closed, which is the clearest example of why a cape like that holds value now: there is no official route to it any more.

How to get one legitimately

The route is the same as for a full-edition redeem code, just cheaper. You earn Azona Points by completing offers and tasks in a rewards server, then spend them on a cape code and redeem it against your own account.

3. 3Claim the cape you want in the in-server shop. A delivery ticket opens automatically.
4. 4Staff send the cape or its code, usually within 24 hours.
5. 5Sign into the account you play on and apply it on the official Minecraft site.
6. 6Equip the cape in-game. One code per account, as Mojang requires.

Start with a cheap cape, not the expensive one

The cape range spans a very wide price band. The entry-level cape codes cost a small fraction of the rare ones, and there is a practical reason to buy one of those first: it runs you through the entire redemption process for a low amount, so if anything about the flow is confusing, you find out when it is cheap rather than when it is not.

After that, whether you keep collecting or go straight for the Purple Heart Cape depends entirely on how much you enjoy the game and how much time you want to spend earning.

Things to be careful of

• •Any listing for a "transferable" cape. Nothing about a Minecraft cape is transferable.
• •Sellers offering a very cheap full set of every cape. Real caps are individual codes with individual costs.
• •Cape names that are slightly wrong — you will see "Manace Cape" and "Maniac Cape" on resale sites. The correct name is Menace Cape.
• •Sites offering a "cape code generator". There is no such thing, and they exist to phish.
